BEST PANTO YET....OH YES IT IS! - No character was a let down, but some, given the scope of their roles, were certainly stand outs, namely Wishee Washee aka Ben Nickless and also the fabulously flamboyant Widow Twankey played by Phil Haze. Ben exploded onto the stage with an energy I feared may be too exhausting, but soon I was swept up into his infectious stream of hilarity and he even reduced my sister to tears. When joined by his on-stage mother Widow Twankey, this double act was so quick-witted and carefully weaved any mishaps or audience participation into their gags, including getting one poor late comer to produce her ticket. AUDIENCE GET PANTO MAGIC - But the show was stolen by the antics of sidekick Wishee Washee and the exuberant panto dame Widow Twankey. Ben Nickless, as Wishee Washee, won the hearts of the audience and had them in stitches with his energetic humour, while Phil Haze as the dame would have impressed with his range of outfits alone. ALADDIN (Spillers Pantomimes Ltd) - Poor Wishee Washee, played by Ben Nickless, was working hard. The River Severn had burst its banks and endless rain dampened everybody's spirits. Fast-talking Nickless' coup came when the main characters were hypnotised and at his mercy. The cast's fight against corpsing made it all the more funny. Wishee Washee worked well with Phil Haze's Widow Twankey. Their mimed ballet was a masterpiece. Jane Garner, The Stage: 14/12/2006
